Drama is Another Powerful Means of Communication

A Youth Mission is a mission by young people for young people. Often it is referred to as a Youth to Youth Mission. So we have young people spreading the gospel message to their peers and communicating it in a new and exciting way. Ways used to communicate the Good News include a lively mix of mime, drama, art, music, personal witness and prayer. It is usually parish based, with a group of local youth coming together. Often they share no more than an interest being more involved in their local church. With the guidance and assistance of others who have taken part in such missions before, they plan the mission so that it will respond to what is considered as the needs of the young people in that area. Topics often selected include drink and drugs, boy/girl relationships, family matters, peer pressure, prayer and God. So over a period of maybe a week, a mission service will be held each day at a time considered most appropriate for young people. During this time, the youth mission team will communicate their gospel message on the selected theme to all those who come. It is usually responded to quite well with many young people being very excited by it all and coming to see faith and religion in a whole new way.
