| A Reading from the first letter of St. John. This is what we have heard from him, and what we are announcing to you. God is light: there is no darkness in him at all. If we say that we are in union with God while we are living in darkness, we are lying, because we are not living the truth. But if we live our lives in the light, as he is in the light, we are in union with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we acknowledge our sins, the God who is faithful and just will forgive us and purify us from everything that is wrong. This is the Word of the Lord. |

Prayers for the Day |

Opening Prayer: Lord, hear the prayers of those who call upon you, and in your merciful love, give us your pardon and peace. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Prayer over the Gifts: Lord, make holy these gifts, and through them, bring us closer to you and to one another. Grant this through Christ Our Lord. Concluding Prayer: Lord, by the Eucharist we share, Help us to grow to be like you. May we experience peace and forgiveness, and extend your mercy to each other. We ask this through Christ our Lord. where you live for ever and ever. |
