A Reading from the Book of Ecclesiastes.
There is a season for everything, a time for every occupation under
heaven: A time for giving birth, a time for dying; a time for planting,
a time for uprooting what has been planted. A time for tears, a time for
laughter; a time for mourning, a time for dancing. A time for embracing,
a time to refrain from embracing. A time for searching, a time for
losing; a time for keeping silent, a time for speaking; a time for
loving, a time for hating; a time for war, a time for peace. All that
God does is apt for its time: but although he has given us an awareness
of the passage of time, we can grasp neither the beginning nor end of
what God does.
This is the Word of the Lord.
Opening Prayer
God our Father,
Teach us to cherish the gifts that surround us.
Increase our faith in you
And bring our trust to its promised fulfilment
In the joy of your Kingdom.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord.
Prayer Over The Gifts
Lord,
Look with love upon our service.
Accept the gifts we bring
and help us to grow in Christian love.
Through Christ our Lord.
Concluding Prayer
Lord,
As you give us the body and blood of your Son,
Guide us with your Spirit
That we may honour you not only with our lips,
But also with the lives we lead.
This prayer we make as always,
Through Christ our Lord. |
