We need to remind ourselves yet again of the urgent Invitation expressed in Constitution 70 : 'The vitality with which the Congregation pursues its apostolic mission depends on the number and quality of the candidates who seek admission to the Redemptorist community. For that reason, all the confreres, out of love and appreciation for their own vocation, should zealously engage in the apostolate of fostering vocations to the Congregation". This is a question of life or death for our units. ( No. 109, Report of the General Council, Rome.) |
| Prayer for Redomptorist Vocations God, we thank you for the
blessings you have given us in Christ our Redeemer. Let your Spirit overshadow your
people, making your gentle invitation heard in many hearts. Lord of the harvest, bless the
Redemptorist family throughout the world with many vocations, so that those in greatest
need will experience the good news of redemption. May your love grow among us and spread
throughout all your creation, through Christ our Lord. |

| The discernment of a vocation is a wonderful journey. Here is some information on the
Redemptorist vocations of Priest and Brother. Charism The Redemptorists carry on the tradition of Saint Alphonsus today by reaching out to the most abandoned poor. We do so especially through proclaiming the Gospel, as Jesus said of himself: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor..." (Lk 4:18). Ministries Today the Redemptorists work by preference (though not exclusively) for the poor in a variety of ministries:

| Training to be a Redemptorist priest: Three years postulancy at Marianella, Rathgar, Dublin. The postulant studies philosophy at Miltown Institute. One year of Novitiate at St. Joseph's, Dundalk. Three years of theology studies at Kimmage Mission Institute while again living at Marianella, Dublin. This period of study is interrupted for two years so that one can have the benefit of two year pastoral work. This enables one to put into practice what one is studying! Training to be a Redemptorist Brother: Same as above but of course this varies according to the needs, experience and wishes of those entering this way of life.
