Irish Redemptorists and Mission

Mission

For Redemptorists at Clonard and throughout Ireland, preaching is a foundational Redemptorist ministry. Whether at parish missions and novenas or in our own churches, we are trained as communicators to ensure the Gospel is preached ever anew. Print and other media are also used to spread the Good News of God’s love for all humanity.

The Irish Redemptorists are one of the largest providers of ministry to young people in the country, and along with Clonard Youth and Young Adult Teams, we have centres of youth ministry in Scala, Cork and Esker, Galway. Our ministry to young people also takes place in St Clement’s Redemptorist College, Limerick, in all our parishes and through the Youth Ministry Studies Program.

Plentiful Redemption must find concrete expression in the life of our world. Redemptorists try to be reconcilers. Clonard Monastery has been at the heart of the peace process in Ireland and the community there continues to be committed to a ministry of reconciliation and peace-building.

Redemptorists can be found in all areas of pastoral need both in Ireland and abroad. They serve in parishes, as chaplains to hospitals and prisons, minister to migrants and travellers, are counsellors and spiritual directors, teach theology and serve some of the poorest people overseas. The mission in Mozambique is our newest venture and is a joint project of the Redemptorist Province of Dublin and the Vice-Province of Fortaleza in Brazil which was originally founded by Irish Redemptorists.
